Zen Yoga

Zen Yoga is a holistic system of healing that carefully combines the serenity of Zen; the peaceful stretching of Shanti yoga; the flowing movements of Tai Chi; and the energizing breath of Qigong. This blending of movement and breath brings together body, mind, and spirit in ways that challenge you to achieve your highest potential.

Zen Yoga is not necessarily meant to be a vigorous workout. Instead, it is designed to be accessible to anyone regardless of age, ability, or level of fitness. The techniques of proper breathing, stretching, relaxation, and balance unite the self and meet the needs of physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual peace. Simply put, with Zen Yoga you will feel better.

All classes at Möbius are private and designed to address specific goals and needs as determined by the participant and their personal instructor. All classes are adjusted to meet the needs of the individual. You will work at your own pace and there are no comparisons with how well other people can do an exercise. It is not a competition. It is not a contest. We honor that you are doing your best, and then we help you do a little bit more.

I haven’t exercised in years; can you help me?

Zen Yoga is designed to meet your individual needs, to go at your pace, and to help you reach your goals. We will begin with simple, easy exercises as the foundation of your program.

I have limited mobility, how will Zen Yoga work for me?

At Möbius all Zen Yoga sessions are designed to address you as an individual. A program will be designed specifically to your goals and we will make accommodations to meet your needs. We offer a variety of styles including introductory breath-work, gentle yoga and chair yoga.

Can children do Zen Yoga?

The founders of Möbius make a concerted effort to reach out to children. Kids will experience the same benefits as adults and Zen Yoga is an ideal opportunity to introduce, encourage, and help maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The pressures of childhood such as school, identity, developing self-esteem, peer relations, time management, health, and even work place enormous stresses upon today’s youth. In addition to meeting personal goals our youth programs teach techniques of mindfulness, relaxation, and stress release that are geared towards specific age groups and developmental needs.  Sessions are available for youth ages 7-10; 11-14; and 15-17.

We believe that it is never too early to build a foundation of well-being. For children under the age of 7 our programs include “Mommy/Daddy and Me”, Grandma/Grandpa and Me, and family sessions.

Is there anyone who should not do Zen Yoga?

This is a low-impact program however with any physical program there runs a risk of injury. Persons with medical concern should speak with their physician prior to beginning an exercise program. Zen Yoga is complimentary to many traditional treatment modalities and Möbius will work with your provider to ensure that you are receiving the most appropriate and beneficial services. All sessions are individually designed.

Do you have special groups for friends, co-workers, or families?

Yes, we will gladly develop programs that accommodate the needs of the individuals while meeting the goals of the group. We do limit class size to 10 to ensure quality. This is a great way for friends to support one another and for families to make the commitment to get healthy together.

I am unable to physically come to Möbius; can you still help?

Yes, in situations where an individual is physically or medically unable to come to Möbius we will make every reasonable effort to come to you. Please know that Möbius is wheelchair accessible and on the bus-line.
